From slavery to freedom, the Book of Exodus charts the creation of the Jewish people out of the bondage of Egypt. The book contains some of the seminal narratives in all of Judaism, including the ten plagues, the receiving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai and the construction of the golden calf. We will examine several of the book’s most crucial moral dilemmas such as the killing of all of the Egyptian firstborn, as well as discuss the beginnings of Jewish nationhood and a people now governed by a brand new Law.
