Judaism has long been criticized as a religion of law and habit, as opposed to mindfulness and spiritual inspiration.
In this course, we will examine this claim and show how much of Judaism has long standing traditions about cultivating the “inner life.”
We will explore how mitzvot were often interpreted for their inner meaning; how dreams and prayer were a nexus for Jews to delve deeply into consciousness and personal authenticity; and how contemporary Judaism has seen a revival in the quest for spiritual meaningfulness.
