The final book of the Torah combines some major passages of Judaism (the first two paragraphs of Shema) or reminds us of older legislation (the Ten Commandments); as well as Moshe’s final speeches to the people, warning them of complacency or sliding into idolatry. We will examine the character of Moshe in his final days; why the Torah repeats certain mitzvot and the meaning of the new ones that it introduces; as the Israelites move to the borders of the Promised Land.
