This course will explore the innovative philosophies of three seminal Jewish thinkers who addressed the central conflicts between tradition and modernity, each in his own way and in his own time. Topics to be discussed include the relationship between religion and science, the relationship between Judaism and other religions, theological responses to secularization, and the religious significance of the State of Israel.
