During the past Shabbat at camp, we held a very special Torah reading. Four students who studied Torah cantillation during the year via skype with Saralee Shrel-Fox, a teacher at the Schechter Rabbinical Seminary, read Torah for the first time.
After Shabbat ended, a special Havdalah service was held in honor of the new month of Elul, followed by musical selichot. This was an amazing and emotional experience for campers and staff. Following Selichot, we marked the end of camp with a bonfire and sing along. Everyone in the camp bonded together as a family, and goodbyes were very emotional.
The next morning, the final morning of camp, another Torah reading was held for the 2nd day of Rosh Hodesh Elul (picture below).
