We are pleased to announce the appointment of two talented women to managerial and leading positions at The Schechter Institutes: Rabbi Irina Gritsevskaya was appointed Executive Director of Midreshet Schechter, and Dr. Liora Pascal was appointed academic director of the Maccabi Master’s Degree Program in Community Leadership at the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies.
Rabbi Gritsevskaya, ordained by the Schechter Rabbinical Seminary, also holds an LL.M. from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In Israel, Midreshet Schechter provides continuing education programs in Hebrew, Russian, English and French to Israelis in a range of Beit Midrash frameworks. Midreshet Schechter Ukraine, in partnership with Masorti Olami, reconnects Jews to their heritage in an inclusive and joyous atmosphere. Synagogues, schools and summer camps stress Jewish tradition, history and peoplehood, and the centrality of Israel for the Jewish people.
Dr. Pascal holds a PhD in Jewish Education from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and an M.A. in Research Methodology, Measurement and Evaluation from Tel-Aviv University. She researches the social impact of foundations, businesses and non-profit organizations and develops educational and social programs in Jewish Education.
Maccabi (Hebrew acronym for Community Leadership in the Jewish Spirit) offers hands-on leadership training for community center and non-profit professionals, integrating Jewish values and content into their programs and organizations. The program attracts community activists from around the country, combining Jewish studies with practical tools for building strong community-based professional leadership.
