Historical-geographical studies of Eretz Yisrael in the late Roman and Byzantine periods have dealt mainly with cities. Recently the discussion has expanded to include villages, where most of the population lived. This book focuses on the latter and investigates the changes which transpired during these periods. The book shows that the late Roman period up to the fourth century, was a central and important period in the settlement history of Eretz Yisrael.
